Story
Circles are a time for people of all ages to recall memories,
reminisce and share history and life experiences orally.
Share forgotten details with your peers or bring
history to life for a younger generation.
Come share your story and listen to others share
theirs.
This
month’s topic: Birthdays - Was your birthday a special
occasion? How did
you celebrate your birthday?
Are there any birthdays that you remember as being
extra special? How
did your family celebrate milestone birthdays like 16th or
21st birthdays? Refreshments
will be provided. No registration necessary. See
Susie at the Reference Desk for details or call 793-7114.

Foreign
Film Series:
Departures
Tuesday,
September 21 6:00 PM
A
cellist named Diago comes to the rueful conclusion that he’s
not talented enough to make a career as a musician; having
just returned to his hometown with his wife Mika, he answers a
job ad for what he thinks must be a travel agency... only to
discover the company prepares bodies to be placed in coffins.
Fearful of his wife’s response, he hides his new job--but as
he grows to appreciate his boss and the affect that the
humbling ceremony of cleaning and dressing the deceased has on
their families, Diago discovers that he might have a calling.
No registration required.
We’ll provide popcorn, bring your own beverage.
This program is open to adults 18 years of age and
older. For more
information call the Reference Desk at (920)793-7114.

Phone
Notification
for Holds and Overdues
Starting March 23, both Lester Public
Library and Manitowoc Public Library switched from a paper
notice system to a phone based notification system.
From now on, unless you have an email address on file
or you specifically request a paper notice, you will be
getting phone calls to let you know that holds are available
and books are overdue.
So now you’ve got a choice.
- If
you have an email address already on your account, you
will continue to get notifications via email.
This also allows us to send “courtesy
reminders” about materials that are coming due soon.
Email is the only way to get courtesy reminders at
this time.
- You
can get phone calls, which happens automatically if you
don’t have an email address on file and we have your
correct phone number.
- Or
you can continue to get paper notices; to do this you’ll
need to ask the staff to change your preferences.
Also, all bills for lost materials will continue to
be sent by mail, regardless of notice preference.
LPL patrons should
also know that all calls say please contact the Manitowoc
Public Library for further information.
This is a system default that can’t be
changed, but please feel free to contact the Lester Public
Library at 793-8888 if you have any questions about your
materials or where to pick things up.
And rest assured that if you
put materials on hold to be delivered to Two Rivers, they will
still be sent to LPL for you to pick up.
We hope you enjoy the new notification
system— faster notices with less paper to be recycled, but if
you don’t, we’re happy to change your format to something
else. It truly is
now your choice.
